It has the advantages of easy installation, low cost, saving space and so on. It has a broad application prospect in all kinds of anti-seepage engineering. With the world's growing awareness of environmental protection, the Chinese government's legal system for environmental protection is gradually improving. The original sewage, dirty water, harmful substances, toxic waste, pollutants and other environmental waste must be controlled, stored and purified. It should be said that there are a lot of landfill sites in China, but only a few truly meet the sanitary landfill standards. Many landfill sites that have been built still have problems such as landfill leachate contaminating water source, soil, methane overflow and air pollution. This is actually closely related to the design of impermeable layer, the selection of impermeable material and construction quality.

The main process of landfill method is to set impermeable layer between the landfill body and the surface. In order to ensure the effective work of impermeable layer, a complete impermeable structure generally includes protective layer, leachate drainage layer and groundwater drainage layer. The impermeable layer of impermeable materials are mainly HDPE film, non-woven geotextile, natural clay and bentonite waterproof materials. HDPE film has good impermeability, corrosion resistance, not easy to aging and other advantages, but the non-uniform settlement and penetration resistance is poor, so single-layer HDPE film impermeability layer is generally prone to leakage problems, low safety factor. In order to improve the reliability of impermeable layer, composite impermeable layer is used more and more. Before the appearance of GCL, the composite impermeable layer generally consists of 1 layer of geofilm, 2 layers of non-woven cloth and a compressed clay layer of 500-1000 mm thick. However, since the appearance of GCL, GCL has a tendency to replace the compacted clay layer.

Compared with the compacted clay layer, The Bentonite waterproof blanket (GCL) has the following advantages:

First, the construction is simple and does not require heavy equipment, in the lack of high quality clay areas is greatly reduced clay transport;

Secondly, due to its thin thickness, it reduces the consumption of landfill space;

Thirdly, its ability to withstand uneven settlement is much greater than that of compacted clay. In general, the allowable strain of compacted clay is less than 1%, while that of GCL is as high as 8%.

Fourth, it has a better ability to resist freeze-thaw and dry-wet circulation. Generally, when compacted clay is in a dry state for a long time, a large number of cracks will occur, which will increase its water permeability, and this process is irreversible. However, after repeated dry-wet and freeze-thaw cycles, GCL's water resistance will not be affected.

Fifth, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance: can withstand more than 80 strong acid and alkali and other chemical media corrosion, good impermeability.

At present, more than 80% of new and expanded landfill projects in China have adopted bentonite waterproof blanket as the main impermeable material. In recent years, the landfill anti-seepage projects completed by using bentonite waterproof blanket produced by our company mainly include: the landfill site in Luanping County, Chengde City, the garbage treatment project in Ji 'an City, the garbage treatment project in Changchun City and the landfill site sealing and covering anti-seepage project in Harbin City. The paving area reaches several million square meters.
